Electrical Trades Assistant

The Electrical Trades Assistant supports qualified electricians and technicians with the installation, maintenance, testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment across commercial and industrial projects.

The role involves working alongside licensed electricians and other trades on electrical, solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), generators and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist licensed electricians with electrical installation and maintenance works.
• Assist with the installation of solar PV and battery energy storage systems.
• Assist with generator installations, servicing and associated electrical works.
• Assist with cable installation, cable pulling, cable tray, conduit and containment.
• Assist with mounting and installation of electrical equipment, switchboards, isolators, inverters and associated components.
• Support electricians and technicians during testing and commissioning activities.
• Assist with pre-commissioning inspections and equipment checks.
• Use hand and power tools safely and correctly.
• Assist with loading, unloading and movement of equipment and materials.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work vehicles in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas throughout installation and service activities.
• Follow drawings, instructions, SWMS and site-specific requirements.
• Complete basic site documentation, checklists and photographs as required.
• Follow all company WHS procedures and client/site safety requirements.
• Immediately report hazards, incidents, equipment damage or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience as an Electrical Trades Assistant or within the electrical/construction industry preferred.
• Experience with commercial or industrial electrical projects is advantageous.
• Experience with solar PV, BESS or generators is advantageous.
• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow instructions, drawings and safe work procedures.
• Ability to work effectively within a site-based team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable, punctual and willing to undertake physical site work.

Licences & Qualifications

Preferred or required depending on project requirements:

• Construction White Card.
• Current Australian driver's licence.

Be willing to obtain additianl training.

• Working at Heights.
• EWP/High Risk Work Licence where applicable.
• First Aid and CPR.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
