What they need

Engineering is the department that keeps everything working perfectly at The Ned. This isn’t always easy, as our building was designed as a bank, and it isn’t your traditional hotel. We’re responsible for making The Ned an unbeatable experience for our members, guests, customers, and team members and ensuring that attention to detail is second to none.

Do you want to join one of the best places to work in hospitality?

What’s the role? Electrician

About The Ned: The Ned and Ned’s Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time.

The Ned launched in 2017 in the heart of the City, in the former Midland Bank headquarters. The Ned City of London houses Ned’s Club - a private members’ space, gym and rooftop - alongside a public spa, ten restaurants and bars and 250 hotel bedrooms.

As part of our Engineering department, you will:

  • Keep The Ned running smoothly by carrying out electrical repairs, maintenance, and fault-finding across our bedrooms, restaurants, bars, members' spaces, and back-of-house areas.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from guests and colleagues with professionalism, urgency, and a solutions-focused approach.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance and regular inspections to ensure our facilities remain safe, efficient, and operating at their best.
  • Support the upkeep of critical systems, including lighting, plant equipment, fire safety systems, and the Building Management System (BMS).
  • Work closely with the wider Engineering team on projects, repairs, and continuous improvements across the property.
  • Champion safe working practices, energy efficiency initiatives, and high engineering standards throughout the hotel.

What The Ned can give you:

  • Salary of up to £41,000 per year including service charge
  • Complimentary meals in our friendly team restaurant, Neddy’s including monthly payday breakfast
  • Exciting learning and development programmes to help progress your career
  • Exclusive rates at The Ned for staying and eating for you, your family and friends
  • Wellbeing and health benefits, including Reward Gateway and Stream, with access to gym, shopping, and cinema discounts
  • Your birthday off after a year of service and more holiday after five years
  • Paid volunteer day
  • Refer a friend scheme
  • Regular social events, including an annual pool party
  • Employee assistance programme – 24/7 advice and support
  • Reward and recognition initiatives

What you can bring to the role:

  • A recognised electrical qualification with proven experience in maintenance, repairs, and fault-finding within a commercial, hospitality, or similar environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, alongside a proactive approach to solving problems and identifying improvements
  • A guest-focused mindset, understanding the importance of delivering quick, effective solutions while maintaining exceptional service standards
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure, manage competing priorities, and adapt to the fast-paced nature of a luxury hospitality environment
  • A collaborative attitude with excellent communication skills and a willingness to support colleagues across different engineering disciplines
  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, to support the needs of a 24/7 operation

At The Ned, we don't just celebrate our diversity, we challenge ourselves to do even better. The Ned is committed to being the best place to work, and ensuring that we have a leading diversity, equity and inclusion programme is central to making that vision a reality.

Please do let us know of any specific needs you may have during your interview.
