The Opportunity

As a BWS Electrician, you’ll work across domestic and commercial properties throughout the South West, completing electrical testing, inspection, installation, maintenance and repair work.

The role covers straightforward and complex electrical systems, including EICRs, emergency lighting testing and PAT testing. You’ll use your technical knowledge and fault-finding skills to identify issues, complete effective repairs and ensure work is delivered safely and compliantly.

This is a field-based role for somebody who enjoys working independently, takes pride in their workmanship and can represent BWS professionally on customer and construction sites.

What You’ll Do

• Inspect and test electrical systems across domestic and commercial properties
• Complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
• Undertake PAT testing and emergency lighting testing
• Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, control and lighting systems
• Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment
• Repair and replace electrical equipment, wiring, accessories and fixtures
• Read and interpret technical diagrams, drawings and specifications
• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance
• Complete accurate testing, certification and job documentation
• Identify risks, defects and additional work requirements
• Ensure every job is completed safely, professionally and compliantly
• Support, train and mentor apprentices and trainees where required
• Represent BWS professionally on every customer site

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Previous experience in electrical testing, inspection and certification
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• City & Guilds 2391, or an appropriate equivalent inspection and testing qualification
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installations
• AM1 and AM2
• Experience working on both straightforward and complex electrical systems
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
• Excellent attention to detail
• Clear and professional communication skills
• Confidence using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of allocated jobs
• A professional, dependable and customer-focused approach

Desirable

• ECS card or equivalent
• City & Guilds 2377-77 PAT Testing
• City & Guilds Level 4 Design and Verification of Electrical Installations
• IPAF and PASMA
• Experience within electrical, electronic or data infrastructure environments
