What they need
Operations & Client Lead
San Francisco Bay Area (work from home, with occasional in-person client and site visits)
About Us
We're a small, mission-driven building systems contractor specializing in electrification and efficiency: heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, electrical circuits, panels and services, and other efficiency work. What we do reduces greenhouse gas emissions, improves indoor air quality, and makes Bay Area buildings safer and more resilient. About half our work is multifamily and for building owners; the rest is homes.
We have more demand than we can keep up with, and we're looking for an additional person to help keep the company in motion — and, if it's the right fit, someone who can grow into a leadership or part-owner role. This is a mid-career position for someone who wants to do environmental work that matters, and see results in the built world.
What You'll Do Now
Clients & Sales
- Be a point of contact for emails and phone calls, from existing clients, prospective clients, or partners. Handle what you can, route the rest to the appropriate person.
- Win new work. For prospective new clients, you are responsive, straight, and warm, without overpromising. You won't need to design or price the system (our field and design people do that), but you can carry a prospective client from first contact to signed contract, sometimes meeting them in person at prospective project sites.
- Keep clients in the loop without surprises, and keep a signed job feeling well-handled from start to finish.
Coordination & Logistics
- Manage project calendars and coordinate crew scheduling with the field production manager.
- Communicate with clients about job timing, access, and updates.
- Book permit inspections; place major supplier orders and coordinate deliveries so crews have what they need on site.
Administration
- Move jobs along on paper: submit the straightforward permits, communicate change orders in writing to keep clients happy, track progress until the finish line.
- Keep organized digital job folders (Dropbox, Google Suite), and track each project from signed contract through completion.
- Flag the technical and rebate items that belong to others as necessary.
What You'll Grow Into
- Running operations as we scale — spotting what the company needs next, and eventually helping bring additional people on so the company can continue to grow.
- A widening share of ownership over clients, process, and outcomes
- For the right person over time, a real equity stake in the company. This is not a guaranteed offer of partnership; whether or not this is the right fit will be something that is discovered over the first year or two.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in or around construction, home electrification, energy efficiency, rebate programs, or construction/project management — enough to be credible with clients and contractors quickly.
- Someone who finishes what they start and sees the next thing without being told; who can confidently help lead to success with clients, partners, or other employees.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; calm under pressure, juggling many projects at once without letting anything slip.
- Someone who earns others trust quickly, in writing and on the phone. When someone's on the fence, you're often the reason they say yes.
- You want to help build something and stay to see it grow.
- Bay Area based, with a car and clean driver's license. Available during business hours, with flexibility around them.
Pluses
- Spanish.
- Familiarity with energy efficiency principles.
- Familiarity with California incentive programs (TECH, BayREN, PG&E) or multifamily/property-owner work.
- Real experience training, coordinating, or leading other people.
- Any construction-relevant licenses.
Why This Role Matters
This is a rare opportunity that’s both mission-driven, and that has real-world impact. You'd have visibility into projects, and a direct hand in the client's experience. If you're organized, good with people, and want your work to add up to something, this is a great place to feel like you are contributing to the future we need.
