What they need

DSO National Laboratories (DSO) is Singapore's largest defence research and development (R&D) organisation, with the critical mission to develop technological solutions to sharpen the cutting edge of Singapore's national security. At DSO, you will develop more than just a career. This is where you will make a real impact and shape the future of defence across the spectrum of air, land, sea, space and cyberspace.

The Engineering Division conducts research and provides engineering services to the whole of DSO in the areas of digital and mixed- signal electronics/microelectronics, radio frequency (RF), electromagnetic interference (EMI)/electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), antennas, as well as mechanical and thermal engineering.

People are DSO’s greatest asset. You will get to realise your career aspirations and develop your own niche either as a deep technical expert or a leader in the team. With frequent career dialogues and a robust training and development framework, we will provide you with the necessary development tools for you to reach your potential. You will also be recognised and rewarded through competitive remuneration packages and scholarship opportunities.

Electromagnetics Engineer

In This Role, You Will

  • Assist in the design and development of novel antennas and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) solutions for defence system applications.
  • Support the development and evaluation of antenna technologies, including phased-array antennas and metasurfaces for beam steering and electromagnetic isolation.
  • Perform electromagnetic simulations and design analysis to evaluate performance against technical specifications.
  • Apply computational electromagnetics (CEM) tools and, where applicable, AI/ML techniques to support antenna and EMC design optimisation.
  • Conduct laboratory measurements and RF testing to characterise antenna performance and validate simulation results.
  • Assist in the fabrication, implementation, integration, and testing of antenna and EMC prototypes.
  • Analyse simulation and measurement results to identify design discrepancies and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports, simulation documentation, and test results to support design development and verification.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of electromagnetics, antenna theory, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, or FEKO is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of RF measurement equipment, such as vector network analysers (VNAs), and laboratory testing procedures is preferred.
  • Familiarity with circuit design, computational electromagnetics, or AI/ML applications in engineering is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, analyse simulation and measurement data, and document engineering findings.
  • Ability to follow engineering procedures and collaborate with team members on design, simulation, fabrication, and testing activities.
