Electromechanical Technician

Job Overview

• Role Type: Full-time (often requires shift work, weekends, or on-call hours in continuous production environments)
• Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Manager, or Plant Manager
• Industry Settings: Manufacturing plants, robotics facilities, aerospace, automotive, or automated warehouses

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Installation: Set up, align, and calibrate new electromechanical systems, assembly lines, conveyor systems, and industrial robots based on technical blueprints.
• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, testing, and lubrication of mechanical parts, motors, pumps, servos, and pneumatic/hydraulic lines to maximize uptime.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose mechanical breakdowns and electronic failures using multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and software diagnostics; replace worn parts, gears, sensors, and wiring.
• PLC Programming: Read, interpret, and perform basic modifications to Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) ladder logic to debug automated sequences.
• System Integration: Connect electrical wiring, control panels, and computer-driven controls to mechanical frameworks safely according to local electrical codes.
• Documentation: Maintain precise logs of all maintenance actions, parts usage, equipment performance metrics, and compliance records in a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Associate degree or technical certificate in Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related engineering field.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency reading electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&ID diagrams.
• Hands-on experience with hand/power tools, precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers), and welding equipment.
• Understanding of AC/DC circuits, variable frequency drives (VFDs), relays, and 3-phase power.
• Familiarity with automation software and networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus).
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces or at heights, stand for long durations, and tolerate noisy manufacturing environments.
• Safety Standards: Strict compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, OSHA regulations, and appropriate PPE usage.
