What they need

Assembly, wiring and on-site commissioning of custom machines.

The machine you will be building next month did not exist yesterday. Not a copy of something already out there, not the hundredth unit off the same line. A blank sheet, a pile of parts and your hands turning them into a working installation.

And then something happens that never happens in a production plant: what you find out on the floor changes the design. An axis that does not run the way it was drawn, a connector in an impossible spot, a clamping setup that could be simpler. You walk over to the design engineer, or he walks over to you. Here that is not a procedure with a form, that is Tuesday morning. The next machine is better because you spotted something.

TMC Machines designs and builds fully automated custom machines and robot lines, 100% in-house in Ieper, Belgium. Our machines are packed with engineering: our record stands at 26 servomotors in one machine and at 6 cobots with a SCARA in another. You build them, wire them up and adjust them until they run.

What will you do?

  • Build from scratch: You assemble the machine mechanically, pneumatically and electrically, from frame to final sensor. A different machine every time, so a new puzzle every time.
  • Wiring and connecting: You run the cabling, connect the electrical and pneumatic components and test until every part does what it should.
  • Adjusting until it is right: You tune moving parts until they run flawlessly. With dozens of controlled axes, every hundredth of a millimetre counts.
  • Commissioning at the customer: You travel along for installation and start-up, in Belgium and sometimes far beyond it. You are only satisfied once the machine runs the way it should.
  • Steering the design: Whatever you run into during the build goes straight back to engineering. Your observation becomes a change in the 3D model, not a sticky note that disappears.

Who are you?

  • Technically grounded: You read a drawing and an electrical schematic, or you pick it up fast. Mechanical assembly and wiring are familiar territory.
  • Hands and head: You do not mind getting your hands dirty and you still watch that hundredth of a millimetre.
  • Independent: You get a machine, not a list of steps. You work out how to get there yourself and speak up when it stalls.
  • Education: Electromechanics, mechanics or electricity, or the equivalent through experience. Experience in machine building is a plus, not a requirement.

What do we offer you?

  • Salary: €2,800 to €3,500 gross per month depending on your experience, topped up with double holiday pay, a 13th month and pension savings. We put it here because you want to know anyway.
  • Time off: Statutory holidays topped up with ADV days.
  • Growth: Want to specialise in drive technology, or move on to commissioning or engineering? That works here, because there is nobody standing between you and that decision.
  • International: Our machines run all over the world. Whoever wants to join an installation, joins.
  • Small and flat: Short lines, no needless layers, no micro-management. Your colleagues are as hooked on engineering as you are.

Why here and not in a production plant?

In a production plant you build the machine somebody else already drew a hundred times, and what you think of it changes nothing. Here it is the other way around. Every machine is new, every problem is still unsolved and what you find out on the floor ends up in the design of the next one. That is not always comfortable. It is the difference between assembling a machine and building one.

Never done machine building, but you have got the right head on your shoulders? Come and have a look. We have taught this trade to more people than we have ever found ready-made. Engineering can be learned. The urge to figure out how something works cannot.
