- Partner with production engineering to optimize designs for manufacturing (DFM)
- Develop schematic designs and low-speed PCB layouts for control systems
- Design wire harnesses and cable routing for high-reliability applications
- Implement robust communication protocols including CAN Bus, Ethernet, ModBus, and board-level protocols (I2C, SPI)
- Design controllers and embedded systems for harsh industrial/automotive/locomotive environments
- Conduct system and subsystem electrical testing, including automated test development
- Integrate embedded systems and controllers with mechanical and software teams
- Implement EMC mitigation strategies for high-voltage DC systems
- Support embedded software integration and Linux-based system configurations
- Ensure electrical safety in high-voltage DC environments (up to 1500V+)
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience in electrical/electronic system design (automotive, marine, industrial, or rail preferred)
- Hands-on experience with high voltage DC systems (1500V+)
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools - we use KiCAD
- Experience with communication protocols: CAN Bus, Ethernet, ModBus, I2C, SPI
- Understanding of embedded systems and controller integration - we use STM32
