What they need

The physics is precise. The electronics have to be, too. You’ll design, build and debug the circuits that help our quantum sensors work beyond the lab.

The Role

As an Electronics Engineer, you will take hardware from schematic and PCB layout through prototyping, assembly, testing and integration into our next-generation gravimeter. You will develop both analog and digital electronics, troubleshoot what happens when boards meet the wider system and improve designs for field use.

You will work alongside physicists, mechanical engineers and software engineers, with room to propose better ways to solve real hardware problems.

Technical Context

We cool atoms with lasers to near absolute zero to measure tiny changes in gravity. Yes, really. That experiment depends on electronics that can be designed, tested and integrated into a compact sensor system.

What You Will Do

Own PCB development projects from hardware specifications through schematic design, layout, prototyping, bring-up and performance testing.

Design analog and digital circuits in KiCad, select components and prepare boards for manufacturing, assembly and system integration.

Assemble, validate and troubleshoot PCBs and electronics subsystems for our next-generation gravimeter.

Work with physics and firmware teams to integrate electronics with the rest of the sensor, debug cross-system issues and refine designs through testing.

Evaluate and implement new components, designs or technologies when they solve a specific performance or reliability problem.

Turn prototypes into more compact, robust electronics designed for repeatable builds and eventual field deployment.

What We Are Looking For

Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using KiCad, including analog and digital circuit design.

Experience prototyping, assembling, testing and debugging PCB designs, including board-level bring-up and performance checks.

Sound component knowledge and judgment in component selection.

Experience designing systems using microcontrollers or microprocessors.

Knowledge of hardware interfaces including SPI, I2C, RS-232, parallel, USB, CAN and SATA.

Careful troubleshooting and practical problem-solving skills, with a genuine interest in emerging hardware technologies.

Even Better If

Personal or professional electronics projects you can show us and talk through.

Circuit design for power electronics or signal-processing applications.

Firmware, embedded-systems or programming experience.

FPGA or DDS experience.

What Success Looks Like

You can take an electronics design from a clear requirement to a tested, working board; explain the decisions you made; and work with the wider team to resolve what happens during system integration. The result is electronics that are easier to build, debug and use as the sensor moves toward deployment.

Working at Atomionics

Subsurface intelligence takes more than one discipline. People bring different expertise to the same problem, and what happens in one part of the system shapes the next.

The roles are different, but the goal is shared: make subsurface intelligence useful where it matters.

What We Can Offer You

Exposure to deep-tech research and product development, with the chance to see how prototype decisions shape a working sensing system.

Location + Work Model

Location: Singapore.

Work model: Onsite.

Build the technology that maps what no one else can see.

Atomionics is a Singapore based VC-backed startup building quantum sensors for resource exploration and navigation. We measure gravity, acceleration, and rotation 1000x better than the state of the art. Our sensors can build a complete map of the underground, thus help pinpoint underground structures, like bunkers and tunnels, predict earthquakes, provide precise navigation, and build a universal positioning system that works everywhere – underground, underwater, and even in space. We have deep expertise in bringing complex technologies from a lab environment to the dynamic real world.

We are a focused group in a high-energy environment. The core of what we are building is called cold atom interferometry, where we cool down atoms to microkelvin temperatures by shooting lasers at them. This allows us to precisely measure the forces acting on them. Our team has over 30 years of combined relevant research experience and consists of people at the top of their domains with a diverse set of experience, such as in advanced rocket engines, the first digital cameras, and high resolution microscopes, apart from cold atom physics. And due to the complexity of our work, our employees get to interact with other domains such as electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, and software engineering. Our company likes to treat our work as a “gym for our minds”.

In addition, we are backed by some fantastic investors from the private and public sectors, such as Wavemaker, SGInnovate, Cap Vista, 500 Startups, and other prominent angels.

Other offers great for you!
