STS is now hiring an Elementary Emotional Support Paraprofessional to support at Brecknock Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year!

About Us

Substitute Teacher Service (STS) partners with school districts to staff a wide variety of educational and school-support positions, including both permanent and substitute paraprofessionals, PCAs, classroom aides, and more. We are currently seeking entry-level and experienced candidates to support students in the following position:

Emotional Support Paraprofessional at Brecknock Elementary

• Hours are 8:30am-3:45pm, following the student calendar
• Pay starts at $17.25 per hour, with a possible increase for related prior experience
• The Emotional Support program is for students whose emotional or behavioral challenges significantly interfere with their ability to learn. It provides individualized instruction and supports to help students manage emotions, improve behavior, and succeed academically and socially. Services may include behavior intervention plans, social-skills training, and structured environments. The goal is to support students in regulating behavior and accessing the general curriculum in school settings. This position may require assistance with verbal and/or physical behaviors.

What Do School Support Staff Do?

Responsibilities vary depending on the assignment but may include:

• Supporting students academically, socially, behaviorally, and/or with daily living needs
• Working individually with a student or assisting multiple students within a classroom
• Helping teachers implement classroom activities and student support plans
• Encouraging student independence and positive participation
• Providing supervision and maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment
• Collaborating with teachers, special education staff, therapists, and other school personnel
