Elementary School Assistant Teacher

Discovery Lane seeks a part-time Elementary Assistant Teacher at our Reggio Emilia inspired school. Our school’s teaching and administrative team continuously strive to provide families an environment that fosters creativity, flexibility to curated ideas, and a love of learning. The community is very much the makings of our curriculum and approach to education. We happily serve families in Charles County and surrounding communities.

Responsibilities

• Assume shared responsibility for implementing the daily lesson plans, assisting in classroom management, and providing direction and guidance in this play based learning environment.
• Lesson planning for students in K-2nd grade with the support of lead elementary teacher.
• The assistant teacher with the leader and guidance of the lead teacher will support the development and presentation of lessons for preschool age children.
• Provide full supervision of children and maintain ratios at all times.
• Keep attendance records.
• Support and understands the vision, mission, and values of Discovery Lane, LLC.
• Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment.
• Follow school and state licensing standards.
• Stay current with early child development through professional development.
• Possess the ability to communicate well with parents, co-workers, and children.
• Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

Ideal Candidate

Associates or Bachelor Degree Required- Please do not apply if you have not completed and earned the minimum degree requirement.

1 year plus work experience

Excellent verbal and communication skills

A willingness to learn and engage in the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early childhood education
