Position Summary

The Social Studies/Science Instructor delivers engaging history/science instruction for students in grades 1-8. This educator inspires learning through hands-on experiences while helping students build knowledge in history and science. Simultaneously growing their confidence and an appreciation for different perspectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach dynamic, age-appropriate social studies and science lessons aligned with school goals. These subjects can be taught one week on, one week off, every other day, month by month, etc. It is up to the teacher’s discretion.
• Foster a welcoming classroom environment where every student feels encouraged to learn and explore ideas.
• Introduce students to a grade appropriate science and social studies curriculum while using a multi sensory approach.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
• Organize and maintain an inspiring, safe, and well-equipped classroom.
• Assess student growth and communicate progress with families in a meaningful way.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and colleagues to integrate the science and social studies content to other subjects such as writing and art.
• Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

Qualifications

• Education in Science, Social Studies or a related field
• Experience teaching elementary-aged students.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Passion for nurturing creativity, curiosity, and confidence in young learners.
• Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to a positive school culture.
• Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and continuous professional growth.

Pay: $25.00 - $36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28.0 per week
