Eligibility and Benefits Trainer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Eligibility and Benefits Trainer to support a high-volume Neurology practice by serving as both a subject matter expert and trainer for Eligibility & Benefits (E&B) operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in insurance verification and benefits investigation and will be responsible for training new hires through a Train-the-Trainer model. While the trainer's primary expertise and day-to-day focus will remain on Eligibility and Benefits Verification, they will also be cross-trained in additional functions, including Prior Authorizations, Botox/Injectable Authorizations, Referrals Out, and other administrative workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver new hire and ongoing training for Eligibility and Benefits Verification processes
• Facilitate training sessions using the Train-the-Trainer methodology
• Develop and maintain training materials, SOPs, job aids, and process documentation
• Conduct knowledge assessments, certifications, and performance evaluations
• Monitor trainee progress and provide coaching and feedback to ensure operational readiness
• Generate and maintain reports on employee training progress, productivity, and performance
• Train staff on verifying patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and copays
• Ensure accurate documentation of insurance information in patient records and EHR systems
• Train employees on updating referral effective and termination dates and appropriately flagging patient charts
• Become proficient and train employees on Prior Authorizations, Prior Authorizations for Botox/Injectables, and Referrals Out

About you

• Graduate of a medical-related course (Nursing, Medical Technology, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Biology, or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Eligibility and Benefits Verification within a healthcare or medical practice environment
• At least 1-2 years of training, coaching, mentoring, or team lead experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of insurance eligibility verification, benefits investigation, copay determination, prior authorizations, referral management, and healthcare terminology
• Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to handle confidential patient information in compliance with HIPAA standards
• Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills
