EL/PL Technical Support Solicitor - Manchester - Hybrid - Up to £60,000

A highly regarded national law firm is looking to recruit an experienced EL/PL Technical Support Solicitor to join its established defendant insurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified lawyer with strong technical knowledge and previous supervisory experience to take on a varied role combining team leadership with hands-on litigation.

You’ll support the development of a team handling litigated Fast Track claims while managing your own caseload of predominantly Multi-Track Employers’ Liability and Public Liability matters, typically valued between £25,000 and £100,000. The position offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex claims, provide technical guidance to colleagues and build strong relationships with major insurer clients.

The Role

• Oversee and support a team of fee earners handling litigated EL/PL claims, providing technical guidance and ongoing mentoring.
• Manage your own caseload of predominantly Multi-Track claims, typically valued between £25,000 and £100,000.
• Develop effective litigation strategies, ensuring cases are progressed efficiently and commercially.
• Review case performance, financial controls and litigation outcomes.
• Provide practical support to colleagues on complex technical issues and case strategy.
• Deliver training and support the professional development of junior team members.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with insurer clients, providing clear and commercially focused advice.
• Assist with client reviews, audits and technical discussions where required.

About You

• Qualified Solicitor or CILEX lawyer
• Strong experience handling litigated Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims, including matters valued up to £100,000
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring or supporting the development of other fee earners.
• Excellent technical litigation knowledge and a sound understanding of defendant insurance work.
• Commercially minded, with the ability to balance strong client outcomes with efficient case management.
• Confident communicator with strong client care and relationship-building skills.
• Able to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions and work effectively under pressure.
