ELV Engineer

About the role

The ELV Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering extra-low voltage works from design review through installation, testing, commissioning and handover. A key requirement of this role is to prepare and manage contractor shop drawings internally, as MEP subcontractors are not expected to produce coordinated shop drawings. This role therefore suits an engineer who can combine technical coordination, project delivery and hands-on drawing production in CAD and BIM.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage ELV works throughout the project lifecycle, including design coordination, site execution, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Prepare, develop and update ELV shop drawings, coordination drawings, combined services drawings and as-built drawings in CAD and/or BIM to support construction and installation works.
• Review tender drawings, specifications and design information, and translate them into buildable contractor shop drawings for site execution.
• Coordinate ELV interfaces with architectural, structural, electrical, MVAC, fire services, plumbing, security and builders' works requirements.
• Work with site teams to verify actual site conditions, identify drawing discrepancies and incorporate construction constraints into coordinated shop drawings.
• Monitor site progress, workmanship, installation quality and subcontractor performance for ELV works.
• Liaise with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams on technical submissions, drawing comments and site issues.
• Plan and coordinate ELV systems including extra-low voltage systems, security systems, access control, CCTV, building management system, building automation system interfaces, structured cabling related interfaces and associated equipment installation.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning checks, point-to-point verification, interface testing, integrated system testing, defect rectification and close-out follow-up.
• Work closely with site and planning teams to align ELV activities with project milestones, access constraints and work sequences.

What We're Looking For

• Degree, Higher Diploma or Diploma in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Relevant experience with a main contractor, E&M contractor or specialist contractor in Hong Kong.
• Solid experience in ELV coordination and delivery on building, E&M, fit-out or mission critical projects.
• Proven ability to prepare shop drawings and coordination drawings independently for construction use.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with BIM workflow such as Revit or equivalent platforms.
• Good knowledge of ELV systems, site coordination, technical submissions and testing and commissioning processes.
• Able to coordinate across multiple disciplines and manage subcontractor interfaces effectively.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and site coordination skills.
• Able to work under pressure and manage deadlines in a fast-track project environment.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

Preferred

• Around 7 years of relevant experience in contractor-side project delivery.
• Experience in data centre, mission critical, commercial or large-scale renovation projects.
• Familiarity with combined services drawings, BIM coordination and drawing production for site execution.
• Familiarity with integrated testing and commissioning, phased handover and defect close-out processes.
• Practical understanding of security, BMS, access control and low-level system interface coordination.
