ELV Technician

Role Description The ELV Technician will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems such as CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, structured cabling, IP telephony, and related network-based solutions. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings, pulling and terminating cables, mounting devices, performing system integrations, and conducting site inspections and troubleshooting. The technician will document work performed, assist in commissioning and handover, and coordinate with project engineers and other team members to meet project timelines and quality standards. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Colombo District, requiring regular visits to client locations and adherence to safety and compliance guidelines.

Qualifications

• Strong practical skills in ELV systems installation and maintenance, including CCTV, access control, alarm systems, and structured cabling, will be a definite advantage.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts (IP addressing, routing, switching)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system layouts, with accurate documentation and reporting skills.
• Competence in using hand tools, power tools, test equipment (multimeters, cable testers), and following safety practices on-site.
• Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Completed technical or vocational training in electronics, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a related field; industry certifications in ELV or networking are an advantage.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude, with the flexibility to work on-site, travel within Colombo District, and meet project deadlines.
