About the role
We are looking for a test engineer who can test and validate embedded systems and industrial communication software. C++ is your main skill. You will build and run test cases for protocol stacks and devices, and find the root cause of communication issues.

Key Result Areas (KRA)

1. Protocol testing: design and run test cases to validate industrial protocol stacks and device integrations.
2. C++ test development: write and maintain C++ test tools, simulators and automation for communication systems.
3. Embedded and system testing: carry out functional, integration, system, regression and protocol compliance testing on embedded devices.
4. Debugging and analysis: analyse packets, debug at protocol level and find root causes of defects.
5. Interoperability: check that devices, embedded systems and applications work together under load, failure and latency conditions.
6. Defect and quality management: log and track defects, support releases and improve test processes and automation coverage.

Key Performance Areas (KPA)

• Test case coverage and on-time test completion
• Number and severity of defects found before release
• Defects that escape to UAT or production
• Time taken to analyse and find the root cause of issues
• Share of tests automated
• Quality of test documentation and reports
• Collaboration with development and product teams
• Contribution to sprint commitments and release timelines

Mandatory skills

• C++ as the main skill: strong programming and debugging, used for test tools or automation
• 5 to 10 years in embedded or system testing / QA, preferably in industrial communication
• Hands-on testing of industrial protocols: Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850 and SNMP
• Testing of file transfer and network protocols: FTP, FTPS, SFTP, TFTP, HTTP, XMODEM and YMODEM
• Packet analysis with Wireshark, tcpdump or similar tools
• Docker for test environment setup
• Ability to read vendor manuals and design test cases from them
• Defect tracking tools, Agile teams and strong analytical skills

Good to have

• C# knowledge
• ODBC / database testing
• SCADA, industrial automation or power systems testing
• Python or TypeScript / JavaScript test automation
• CI/CD and performance or load testing tools
