Robert Bosch is a world-class engineering and manufacturing company.  Our products impact hundreds of millions of people every day, many in safety critical systems. For example, Artificial intelligence, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Sensor Fusion topics are making an impact in Bosch’s products and services in many domains, including manufacturing, autonomous driving, predictive maintenance, vehicle diagnostics and supply chain & logistics. We have a global team of Embedded SW Developers and research scientists focused on applying state-of-the-art technologies to improve all aspects of Bosch’s products and operations.

We are seeking a hands-on Test Manager / Test Coordinator to lead a global automotive software test organization. This role is responsible for managing manual and automated software testing, continuous testing within the continuous integration environment, vehicle-level testing, and quality reporting across cloud, edge, device, and vehicle software products.

The successful candidate will work closely with global engineering teams, customers, suppliers, and end users to ensure software quality, release readiness, and an effective end-to-end testing strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a global software test organization, including resource planning, prioritization, performance, and team development.
  • Define and manage the software test strategy, scope, plans, schedules, metrics, and release-readiness criteria.
  • Manage both manual software testing and software test automation activities.
  • Ensure continuous software testing is integrated into the continuous integration and delivery environment.
  • Coordinate unit, integration, system, regression, performance, acceptance, and automated testing activities.
  • Manage vehicle-level software testing across products and subsystems, including cloud-computing and edge-computing solutions.
  • Coordinate the availability of test environments, vehicles, prototype configurations, software versions, tools, test routes, test data, and required resources.
  • Track progress, test coverage, defects, risks, quality trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure traceability across software requirements, test cases, software versions, test results, defects, and release evidence.
  • Lead defect-triage activities; ensure issues are properly logged, classified, prioritized, assigned, resolved, and verified.
  • Analyze software defects using cloud-based analytics, logs, telemetry, diagnostic data, and conventional debugging methods.
  • Develop, acquire, and implement software tools that improve testing efficiency, coverage, automation, and reporting.
  • Provide hands-on support for system testing activities as required.
  • Produce test status reports, quality dashboards, risk assessments, and release-readiness recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with development, integration, validation, supplier, customer, and end-user teams in a global environment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable development and testing processes, including Automotive SPICE, ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, and internal quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test processes, automation, tooling, test coverage, and operational efficiency.

Team Development and Mentoring

  • Mentor and develop junior engineers in software testing practices, methodologies, and tools.
  • Train junior team members on:
    • Flashing and deploying software to target devices and vehicles.
    • Understanding, classifying, documenting, and reporting software defects.
    • Working with device software, and automated test systems.
  • Foster a strong quality culture, technical curiosity, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience leading, managing, or coordinating software testing teams in a global environment.
  • Experience in automotive software, embedded systems, ECUs, connected vehicles, cloud platforms, edge computing, or device software.
  • Strong experience managing manual testing, test automation, and continuous testing in CI/CD environments.
  • Experience coordinating vehicle-level software testing, pilots, or field-validation activities.
  • Experience with test planning, test execution, defect management, traceability, quality metrics, and release reporting.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycles, preferably V-Model, Agile, or hybrid delivery models.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jira, DOORS, ALM, or equivalent.
  • Strong written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SIL, MIL, HIL, bench, and vehicle testing.
  • Knowledge of embedded software development in C/C++ and automated testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with automotive protocols and tools, including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, CANoe/CANalyzer, or vehicle diagnostics.
  • Experience with cloud-based logging, telemetry, analytics, or remote diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of Automotive SPICE, ISO 26262, automotive cybersecurity, and requirements management.
  • ISTQB, Scrum, PMP, or equivalent certification.
