Position Overview

We are establishing a new R&D center at our Hong Kong office. This team will be responsible for the design of RAK products. As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for embedded firmware development and maintenance for IoT products, including feature adjustments and issue fixes for existing products, as well as firmware bring-up and board-level adaptation for new products.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain MCU firmware in C/C++.
2. Work with hardware engineers on new product bring-up, including clock, power, GPIO, and interfaces such as UART, I2C, and SPI.
3. Resolve software issues reported from testing, production, and field feedback on existing products.
4. Read schematics and use logs, debuggers, and instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers to diagnose problems.
5. Submit buildable, reviewable changes with necessary documentation.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree or above in Electronics, Communications, Computer Science, Automation, or a related field. Complete MCU project experience is sufficient,
2. Proficient in C/C++; able to read and maintain existing embedded projects and diagnose issues using logs and debuggers.
3. Hands-on development experience with at least one mainstream MCU such as STM32, ESP32, or nRF52, with the ability to migrate to other platforms.
4. Familiar with common peripherals including GPIO, UART, I2C, and SPI; able to read schematics and perform basic board-level debugging.
5. Good English and Mandarin for international communication.
6. Good team player, good documentation and communication skills.

Nice to Have

1. Experience with Git or other version control tools.
2. Exposure to BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, or other Sub-GHz wireless technologies (familiarity with at least one is sufficient).
3. Experience with low-power or battery-powered products.
4. Experience with PlatformIO, Arduino, or similar embedded development environments.
5. Experience integrating sensors, GNSS, or OLED displays.
6. Experience reading or modifying open-source firmware.
7. Ability to write simple scripts for testing or log analysis.
