What they need

Embedded Systems & Interactive Projection Engineer – AI/IoT
Company: Dataviv Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

About the role

We are looking for a hands-on engineer to develop interactive projection displays and AI/IoT solutions for Dataviv AIOS. The initial project involves projecting a moving Earth, educational visuals and student-created content onto a round sphere or curved surface.

The role combines projection mapping, embedded electronics, camera and sensor integration, hardware prototyping and software connectivity. Practical experience building and testing working systems is essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Spherical and curved-surface projection: Develop and test projection onto full spheres, hemispheres and curved screens. Evaluate single-projector internal or external projection configurations, suitable lenses, screen materials and projector placement. Identify achievable coverage, focus, brightness and viewing angles before finalising the design.
  • Projection mapping and calibration: Map flat digital content onto curved surfaces using geometric warping, masking and calibration. Project latitude–longitude grids to identify distortion, alignment errors and uneven coverage. Demonstrate a rotating Earth with correctly aligned continents, poles and equator. Handle seams and edge blending where multiple projectors are used.
  • AI/IoT development: Integrate ESP32, Arduino or Raspberry Pi with cameras, sensors, buttons and other input devices. Build Python applications and API/MQTT connections to AIOS for content selection, student uploads, device control and monitoring.

Additional work

  • Develop camera-based interaction, motion detection and gesture-controlled demonstrations where required.
  • Connect temperature, humidity, proximity, light and other sensors for educational experiments and smart-device applications.
  • Design CAD layouts, adjustable projector mounts, enclosures, cable routing and ventilation.
  • Prepare bills of materials, source components, coordinate fabrication and support installation.
  • Document setup, calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance so the system can be operated reliably by school staff.

Required skills

  • Hands-on experience with projection mapping, projector setup and calibration on curved or non-flat surfaces.
  • Understanding of projector throw distance, lens selection, focus limitations, image distortion and fisheye optics where applicable.
  • Working knowledge of Python, embedded programming, ESP32/Arduino/Raspberry Pi, cameras and sensors.
  • Experience with APIs, MQTT, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Ability to take a prototype from initial concept through assembly, testing and installation.

Preferred experience

Experience with OpenCV, TouchDesigner, MadMapper, Resolume, Unity or similar tools; CAD and fabrication; interactive exhibits, science centre installations, educational hardware or immersive displays.

Practical demonstration

Shortlisted candidates should demonstrate, or explain a previous working prototype showing:

  • A latitude–longitude grid projected onto a small sphere or hemisphere, with clear alignment and visible distortion checks.
  • A rotating Earth, showing acceptable focus, brightness and coverage across the intended viewing area.
  • A sensor, camera or button interaction that changes the projected content through software.

The successful candidate will validate the optical arrangement on a prototype before the final enclosure is approved. The intended display is approximately 2–3 feet in diameter, subject to successful testing and budget.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline. Candidates with strong practical portfolios will also be considered.

How to apply

Share your CV, project portfolio and short videos of relevant projection mapping, embedded systems or IoT projects. Clearly describe your personal contribution to each project.

Specialist support: The engineer may work with a Projection Systems / Optical Engineer engaged for short-term consultation on lens selection, spherical coverage and optical validation.

Pay: ₹11,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
