What they need
Tech4home is a major player in the remote-control sector. With 20 years of researching, designing and developing a wide array of devices across the globe for the biggest brands in electronics, home automation, and pay TV, we aim to continually assess opportunities to enhance our products and actively involve our clients to achieve value for money.
Our team has in-depth knowledge of engineering, design, and aesthetic space. We stay on top of the latest design trends and integrate them seamlessly into our products, home, and business.
Now, we’re looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer (Product Development) to join our team:
Key Responsibilities:
- Firmware development: develop firmware in C for ARM-based microcontrollers and BLE SoCs (or similar), from architecture to production release, following internal and industry design rules and coding standards.
- Software tools: develop and maintain PC and Linux-based tools for testing, configuration, production support and debugging.
- Test and debug: define and execute firmware verification, and debug at system level using lab equipment (debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol sniffers).
- Optimization: improve power consumption, memory footprint, performance and stability, with particular focus on battery-powered devices.
- Quality: contribute to code reviews, version control, static analysis and automated testing to keep firmware quality high in cost-optimized architectures.
- Hardware: support the electrical development of prototypes, including schematic design review and, depending on experience, schematic design and PCB layout.
- Collaboration: work closely with hardware, mechanical and test colleagues, manufacturing partners and customers during industrialization, production ramp-up and field issue analysis.
- Documentation: write and maintain clear technical documentation (specifications, design notes, release notes).
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in embedded firmware development.
- Strong C programming skills on resource-constrained microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M or similar), bare-metal and/or RTOS.
- Hands-on experience with MCU peripherals and hardware interfaces.
- Ability to read schematics and datasheets and to debug hardware/firmware issues in the lab.
- Experience with Git and structured development practices.
- English at C1 level or higher, written and spoken.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good communication and a collaborative attitude.
Nice to have:
- Bluetooth Low Energy experience or other wireless protocols.
- Low-power design for battery-operated devices.
- Python scripting for test automation and tooling.
- Schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g. Altium or other).
- Experience with high-volume consumer electronics, production testing and supplier interaction.
