Duties

• Respond swiftly to emergency calls, assessing patient conditions with thorough patient assessment techniques.
• Provide essential basic life support (BLS), including airway management, vital signs monitoring, and CPR as needed.
• Operate emergency vehicles safely through city streets, demonstrating proficiency in emergency vehicle operation and navigation.
• Perform patient transport with care, ensuring safe movement of patients to hospitals or trauma centers while maintaining patient stability.
• Administer medications and injections following established protocols, including venipuncture when necessary.
• Conduct physical examinations and utilize medical equipment operation skills to evaluate and treat patients effectively.
• Assist in trauma care and critical care response for cardiovascular emergencies, pediatric emergencies, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and trauma medicine.
• Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
• Communicate effectively with incident command teams, hospital staff, and emergency responders to coordinate patient care seamlessly.
• Document all patient interactions accurately using medical terminology and detailed reports for legal and medical purposes.
• Follow established departmental policies, guideline and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives; safety, environmental and/or infection control standards
• Complete and transfer patient care information and record as per established procedures.

Experience

• Prior EMT experience with demonstrated proficiency in basic life support (BLS) procedures.
• Experience working within hospital settings or emergency rooms is highly desirable.
• Critical care transport experience or trauma medicine background is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, trauma care protocols, and emergency medicine practices is essential.
• Familiarity with pediatric emergency care, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and cardiovascular emergency response enhances your capability in this role.
• Demonstrated ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking during shifts.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, incident command systems, and medical emergency response procedures is required.
• High diploma or GED plus 1-3 years vocational training related to NM Licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic.

Pay: $26.53 - $31.94 per hour
