Emergency Medical Technician - Basic

Duties

• Respond promptly to emergency calls, providing essential pre-hospital medical care at the scene and en route to healthcare facilities
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine the severity of injuries or illnesses
• Administer basic life support (BLS), including airway management, oxygen therapy, and bleeding control to stabilize patients
• Utilize advanced patient assessment techniques such as triage and medical terminology to prioritize care effectively
• Perform medication administration, venipuncture, and injection procedures following aseptic techniques and medical protocols
• Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment (DME), ensuring readiness for rapid deployment during critical incidents
• Transport patients safely while monitoring their condition continuously, providing critical care transport when necessary
• Collaborate with hospital staff during handoffs at Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain detailed documentation of patient care activities, vital signs, and treatment provided in compliance with healthcare standards
• Drive emergency vehicles responsibly while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations, including heavy lifting when required

Requirements

• Valid EMT-Basic certification with current licensure in good standing
• Prior experience in critical care environments such as hospital settings or emergency rooms is highly preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in airway management, vital signs measurement, and patient assessment techniques
• Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and emergency medicine protocols
• Experience with critical care transport services or Level I/Level II trauma center operations is a plus
• Ability to perform physical examinations and venipuncture accurately under pressure
• Strong understanding of aseptic technique and medication administration procedures
• Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; ability to lift heavy equipment or patients safely when necessary
• Proven ability to work effectively in urgent care or emergency room environments under stressful conditions
