Emergency Medical Technician

Job Overview

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responds to emergencies, stabilizes patients, and transports them safely to appropriate medical facilities. The role requires rapid assessment, life-support interventions, and clear communication with dispatch and hospital staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and provide an appropriate level of care
• Administer first aid (e.g., wound bandaging) and life-support measures (e.g., CPR) as needed
• Assess patient conditions and deliver initial treatment
• Determine whether a patient requires transport to an emergency room or a trauma center
• Operate emergency vehicles safely and efficiently to the receiving facility
• Provide concise handover to hospital staff, including patient vitals and care rendered
• Complete accurate patient reports and documentation of care provided
• Maintain and restock medical equipment and supplies

Qualifications

• College Graduate with valid EMT training/certification
• NCII certification preferred; candidates without it must be willing to undergo training
• Ability to work extended hours while maintaining quality of care
• Capacity to deliver care effectively under stress
• Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and situational awareness skills
• Effective stress-management abilities
• Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
