About the Role

Animal Medical Center of Miami is a new, privately-owned specialty and emergency hospital opening in the heart of Miami: a 24/7 facility built to deliver the highest standard of critical and specialty veterinary care in South Florida, with a focus on surgery and internal medicine. We are veterinarian-founded and veterinarian-led, and we put the wellbeing of our staff at the forefront of what we do.

We're looking for an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our new emergency department. You'll triage incoming patients, assist with stabilization and critical care, and help set up the ER's workflows and supplies at one of the region's fastest-growing veterinary hospitals.

Our ER technicians play a critical role on our medical team. You will work hand in hand with our emergency veterinarians to deliver fast, exceptional care to patients when they need it most. Your skill, quick thinking, and calm under pressure will shine through in critical moments, and your compassion will come through with every pet owner you support during a stressful time. You are efficient, organized, collaborative, and an excellent communicator.

Key Responsibilities

Emergency Patient Care

• Triaging incoming patients and prioritizing care based on urgency
• Assisting with patient stabilization, including oxygen therapy, IV catheter placement, and fluid therapy
• Participating in CPR and other life-saving interventions
• Performing blood work, imaging, and other emergency diagnostics
• Administering medications and treatments
• Monitoring sedation and anesthesia for emergency procedures
• Providing ongoing care and monitoring for hospitalized and critical patients
• Leading emergency admissions, discharges, and transfers to specialty services

Department readiness

• Keeping the ER and crash cart stocked, organized, and ready at all times
• Maintaining emergency equipment and ensuring it is in working order
• Following and helping develop emergency protocols and safety standards

Client support & education

• Communicating with clients during emergencies, providing updates, answering their questions, and performing follow-up activities (e.g., recheck calls, reports)
• Collaborating with the broader team (e.g., reception, assistants, surgery and internal medicine staff) to provide exceptional service
• Providing guidance and support on home care, medications, and recovery after discharge

Your Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Veterinary/Animal Health Technology program; credentialed technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred
• Experience in an emergency, critical care, or specialty hospital setting
• Ability to stay calm, focused, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Positive and welcoming attitude
