What they need

Company description:

ANZ Banking Group Limited

Job description:

About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

The Employee Relations, Wellbeing and Safety function at ANZ Group helps people work together to create a positive, safe, and inclusive workplace. We're responsible for end to end ownership of the employee experience, from dedicated first responders through to case resolution.

In this role, you'll work in the Employee Relations Team with line Managers and employees on Employee Relations matters (ER). You will manage a portfolio of interesting and at times complex ER cases and work on projects focused on continuous improvement of our service. You will also work closely with our key stakeholder groups.

Role Type: Permanent
Role Location: Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane
Work Hours: Fixed Term (Full-time)

What will your day look like?

  • Conducting workplace investigation, resolving employee grievances and supporting the parties to resolve issues themselves
  • Managing misconduct processes and supporting Line Managers to address matters requiring disciplinary outcomes
  • Providing quality ER advice relating to complex policy matters and employee issues whilst ensuring a commercial, values-based, and lawful outcome
  • Supporting colleagues to deliver good quality, fair ER outcomes and to meet team deliverables
  • Continuous improvement of ER processes and contribution to team and function initiatives
  • Establishing collaborative working relationships within the team and function, Talent & Culture and ANZ Group stakeholders

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Experience in an advisory role requiring specialist Employee Relations knowledge, or experience practising employment law
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgement and commercial acumen to a range of complex cases, delivering practical advice that manages risk and accords with best practice
  • Ability to autonomously and efficiently manage a high volume of ER cases and priorities at pace, including setting the ER strategy for each matter, managing risk, coaching line managers, and managing stakeholders
  • Excellent influencing, negotiation, coaching and stakeholder management skills
  • ER Specialist knowledge (including knowledge of and experience managing employee misconduct, terminations, poor performance, health, harassment, bullying, unacceptable behaviour, and other grievances, in addition to undertaking investigations)
  • Understanding of employment, discrimination and equal opportunity laws, relationship between policies, employment contracts, awards, and agreements

You're not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we'd love to hear from you.

So why join us?

From the moment you join ANZ, you'll be doing meaningful work that will shape a world where people and communities thrive.

But it's not just our customers who'll feel your impact. You'll feel it too. Because at ANZ, you'll have the resources, opportunities, and support you need to take the next big step in your career.

We're a diverse bunch at ANZ in different roles, different locations, doing different things. That's why we have a range of flexible working arrangements, so our people can 'make work, work for them'. We also provide a range of benefits including access to health and wellbeing services and discounts on selected products and services from ANZ and more.

At ANZ, you'll be part of an organisation where the different backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences of our people are celebrated. That's because we're committed to building a workplace that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We welcome applications from everyone and encourage you to talk to us about any adjustments you may require to our recruitment process or the role itself. If you're a candidate with a disability or access requirement, and have an enquiry about the support provided, please let us know on your application or visit ANZ Accessibility and Inclusion Programs for alternate contact methods.
