Our Employment and Skills Service has a proven track record in supporting young people to participate in education, employment and training.

We are looking for a dynamic, responsive and people focused Employment Advisor who can deliver results for the employers and young people that we work with.

An opportunity exists to join our Young Ambition Team in North Tyneside. This is an exciting role to connect businesses with talented young people. The successful candidate will source and engage with local employers to secure employment opportunities, apprenticeships and work placements for our young people. You will ensure employer expectations are met in providing talented, skilled and enthusiastic candidates for their vacancies whilst promoting inclusive practices and entry level routes. In this role, you will;

  • Build a strong employer pipeline, engaging businesses across the North Tyneside, converting interest into real opportunities and building expertise in recruitment practices
  • Create meaningful, suitable roles that meet employer needs and give young people a positive experience of work including coordinating short sector specific training
  • Prioritise our vulnerable cohorts ensuring our care leavers, young people with SEND and disadvantaged young people can access opportunities
  • Use a consultative approach, understanding workforce challenges and presenting practical recruitment solutions.
  • Promote inclusive recruitment, helping employers remove barriers and consider accessible, flexible approaches.
  • Support matching and onboarding, working with colleagues to connect young people to the right roles.
  • Represent North Tyneside Council externally at employer forums, jobs fairs, networking events and sector groups.
  • Deliver against targets, maintaining accurate CRM records, forecasting opportunities and tracking conversion.
  • Maintain quality and compliance, ensuring employer activity meets safeguarding, equality, data protection and contractual requirements.
  • Support in celebrating the successes from the project by providing examples of those achievements in the form of case studies or profiles.

If you can build employer confidence, create high-quality opportunities and help young people take an important step into work, we would like to hear from you.

The posts can be considered on a secondment basis – candidates should ensure they seek their Line Managers approval for release before completing an application.

DBS Statement

  • The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and an Enhanced DBS disclosure, including Barred List Check, will be required.

Our Carbon Net-Zero 2030 Action Plan

In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council’s operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government’s net zero target of 2050.

We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can’t do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us.
