EMS Solution Architect (BESS)

Role Overview:

Solution Architect EMS responsible for defining, architecting, and validating advanced EMS solutions for grid-connected Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hybrid renewable systems, and microgrid applications. Strong technical leadership in EMS control philosophy, system integration, and grid compliance. The role includes end-to-end EMS system design, feature definition, communication architecture development, and cross functional collaboration to ensure robust technical solutions.

Role & responsibilities

• Define EMS architecture including control layers, communication pathways, and data handling.
• Develop functional specifications for EMS features such as peak shaving, arbitrage, frequency regulation, volt-var control, and active damping.
• Integrate EMS with PCS/inverters, BMS, SCADA, metering systems, and protection devices.
• Lead system-level design reviews, risk assessments, and technical validations.
• Support modelling, firmware, application, and hardware teams for seamless implementation.
• Evaluate grid code compliance and ensure alignment with global standards.
• Prepare system documentation including architecture diagrams, control philosophies, and interface definitions.
• Support customer engagements, technical presentations, and proposal engineering.

Preferred candidate profile

• 8-10 years of experience in EMS design, power system integration, or grid connected applications.
• Strong knowledge of EMS functions, inverter control, and grid services.
• Expertise in industrial communication protocols (IEC 104, Modbus, DNP3, CAN, Ethernet).
• Ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong analytical, system-engineering, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and customer-interaction capability.
