Musselburgh and District Citizens Advice Bureau

Musselburgh Citizens Advice Bureau is looking for a motivated and compassionate Energy Advice Worker to join our WARMTH Project team.
This rewarding role provides an opportunity to support people whose health and wellbeing are affected by living in cold, hard-to-heat homes. You will work directly with individuals and families across East Lothian, helping them improve their financial resilience, reduce energy costs and access the support they need to stay warm and well.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping others, enjoys building relationships within local communities and can provide practical, person-centred advice and support.
About the Role
As a WARMTH Energy Advice Worker, you will deliver energy-related advice and support to people whose health conditions may be worsened by fuel poverty and poor housing conditions.
The role will involve working closely with NHS partners and other stakeholders to identify and support vulnerable clients, including older people and individuals with disabilities. Home visits will form an important part of the role for those who may be unable to access advice services due to illness, disability, caring responsibilities, financial hardship or limited transport options.
You will help clients to:

Maximise household income and access financial support.

Understand and access the most appropriate energy tariffs.

Improve energy efficiency within their homes.

Manage and reduce fuel debt.

Access emergency support, including fuel vouchers, hardship funds and food bank referrals where appropriate.

Build confidence and knowledge to make informed decisions about their energy use and household finances.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality energy advice and support through the WARMTH Project.

Conduct home visits and community-based outreach across East Lothian.

Develop and maintain strong partnerships with NHS colleagues, community groups and local stakeholders.

Promote awareness of the WARMTH Project through established community networks and partnerships.

Maintain accurate records and provide monitoring information in line with funder requirements.

Contribute to the wider work and objectives of the Musselburgh CAB Energy Advice Team.

Undertake any other duties reasonably required by Musselburgh CAB.

About You
We would love to hear from applicants who:

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Are able to work compassionately with people facing challenging circumstances.

Can manage a varied workload and work both independently and as part of a team.

Are committed to tackling fuel poverty and supporting community wellbeing.

Have experience of advice work, welfare rights, energy advice or related community support services

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred, as the role involves travelling throughout East Lothian to deliver advice appointments in clients' homes, community venues and other outreach locations.

Why Join Us?
At Musselburgh CAB, you'll be joining a friendly and supportive team dedicated to making a positive difference in local people's lives. Every day brings the opportunity to help individuals and families improve their wellbeing and financial security while contributing to a project that has a meaningful impact across East Lothian communities.
