Energy Storage Project Engineer

Our client in the energy industry is seeking an Energy Storage Project Engineer to support the planning, design, engineering, and execution of energy storage projects.

This individual will provide technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle, including early-stage technical evaluation, scope development, engineering coordination, design review, and project execution. The role will work closely with cross-functional engineering, construction, and project teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality energy storage solutions.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in solar/PV, battery energy storage, or renewable energy infrastructure, along with the ability to manage technical priorities across multiple project stakeholders.

This position sits remote with 25% travel throughout the year to project sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning, design, engineering, and execution of energy storage projects.
• Assist with technical evaluations, project scoping, design development, and engineering reviews.
• Provide engineering oversight and technical guidance throughout project execution.
• Coordinate with cross-functional engineering, construction, and project teams.
• Review designs for battery storage systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Help ensure project designs align with applicable technical, electrical, and safety standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience in solar/PV engineering, renewable energy engineering, and/or construction.
• Expertise in one or more of the following:
• Power electronics
• Battery energy storage system design
• Substation design
• Generation interconnection/tie design
• Familiarity with energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion systems, and DC/DC converters.
• Familiarity with lithium-ion battery energy storage safety standards, including UL 1973, UL 9540, UL 9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, and applicable IFC/IBC requirements.
• Familiarity with IEC 61215, IEC 61646, and IEC 61730.
• Strong project coordination and communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
