What they need

About Us

‘Safe journeys, every time’. This is what we strive for at Safe Transport Victoria (ST Vic).

As the safety regulator for commercial passenger vehicles, buses and maritime, what we do impacts the everyday lives of Victorians. Our role is to work with these industries and the communities they serve to ensure a transport system that inspires confidence for users.

We are focused on creating impact by being an intelligence-led regulator, agile in response to technological disruptions in the market, and highly responsive to community expectations and needs. We are also in the business of thinking big. We are reimagining what’s possible in how we regulate, and we welcome those who are interested in reshaping and redefining how we work.

ST Vic is committed to building a culture of ‘working as one’. This means our people share openly, question respectfully and build together. We also invest in our people and provide personal and professional development opportunities to create a workforce that is empowered, innovative and adaptable.

About the Role

The ST Vic Enforcement Team is a growing operational investigative unit within the Legal, Governance and Enforcement Branch, conducting complex criminal, fraud and regulatory investigations across Victoria’s commercial passenger vehicle, bus and maritime industries.

Reporting to a Senior Investigator, the Enforcement Case Officer supports investigation activities into alleged breaches of transport legislation, with a particular focus on assessing information, analysing data and reviewing activity associated with the Multi-Purpose Taxi Program Scheme.

You will work collaboratively with investigators, senior investigators, lawyers and subject-matter experts to support high-quality investigative and enforcement outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting criminal, fraud and regulatory investigations, including the assessment and review of MPTP Scheme member usage.
  • Assessing and analysing intelligence, data and other information to identify issues and support investigations.
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and records using approved digital case management and record management systems.
  • Delivering high-quality and consistent service across phone, email and digital channels and supporting timely resolution of enquiries.
  • Handling sensitive personal and investigative information professionally and appropriately.
  • Working collaboratively with regulatory partners, law enforcement agencies and internal stakeholders to support investigative outcomes.
  • Contributing ideas to improve investigative practices, technology, procedures and operational capability.

About You

You will be analytical, organised and comfortable working with detailed information and data in a regulatory or investigative environment.

You will have demonstrated experience and knowledge of the Multi-Purpose Taxi Program Scheme or another government subsidy scheme, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge, together with an understanding of legal documentation and processes within a regulatory, compliance or investigation environment.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to identify issues or anomalies within information, data and records.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate professionally across a range of channels.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary investigative team.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to manage confidential or sensitive information.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain quality when working to deadlines.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement.

Experience reviewing documentary and digital evidence, together with experience in fraud, compliance, accounting or fraud analysis, will be highly regarded.

Qualifications

Qualifications, or an appropriate combination of qualifications and experience, are highly desirable.

Applicants must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Working with Children Check and Baseline Security Clearance.

Experience and working knowledge of the Multi-Purpose Taxi Program Scheme or other government subsidy schemes and associated technology systems is essential.
