Young People Relate (YPR) is looking for experienced, proactive and compassionate Engagement Keyworkers to join our Complex Needs team, supporting children and young people during weekends.

This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), SEND, complex needs, emotional dysregulation or behaviours that challenge.

We are looking for people who can go beyond simply supervising a young person. You will need to build meaningful relationships, plan purposeful activities and deliver person-centred, outcome-focused support that helps young people develop confidence, independence, emotional regulation and positive life skills.

The Role

As an Engagement Keyworker, you will provide structured one-to-one support across home, community, education and YPR settings.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building safe, consistent and professional relationships with young people.
• Delivering engaging and purposeful person-centred keyworking sessions.
• Understanding each young person's communication style, interests, routines, sensory needs and triggers.
• Supporting young people with ASD, SEND and complex behavioural or emotional needs.
• Using proactive and positive approaches to recognise and reduce escalation.
• Supporting emotional regulation, independence, social skills and positive decision-making.
• Following individual Support Plans, Risk Assessments, Behaviour Support Plans and agreed strategies.
• Encouraging participation in education, community activities, sport, leisure and positive routines.
• Working professionally with parents, carers, schools, social workers and other agencies.
• Identifying and reporting safeguarding or welfare concerns promptly.

Report Writing & Case Management

Strong written communication and report writing skills are essential for this role.

Keyworkers are expected to complete clear, professional and timely documentation including:

• Session and contact records
• Assessments
• Risk assessments
• Support and intervention plans
• Incident reports
• Reviews and outcome reports

You must be able to write factual, detailed and professional records suitable for management review and external professional scrutiny.

What We Are Looking For

Essential / Highly Desirable:

• Experience working with children or young people.
• ASD and/or SEND experience.
• Experience supporting complex needs or behaviours that challenge.
• Strong safeguarding awareness.
• Excellent written communication and report writing skills.
• A proactive, creative and person-centred approach.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• Available to work weekends – Saturday and Sunday.
• Post dependant on Enhanced DBS.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

A relevant qualification in Youth Work, Health & Social Care, Education, Social Work or a related field would be advantageous.
