ABOUT THE ROLE

The MRDI is seeking a detail-oriented and well-organized Engineer / Assistant Engineer, in Layout to support the layout design of GaN and Ga2O3 devices and power ICs in MRDI, Hong Kong. The successful candidate will work closely with device, process, test, and package engineers, along with other colleagues to ensure layout manufacturability and process compatibility.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and modify layouts for power devices, test structures, process control monitors (PCMs), and power IC building blocks according to design requirements, layout plans, PDKs, etc.
• Create and maintain GDSII/OASIS layouts using Cadence Virtuoso, L-Edit, KLayout, or other similar layout tools.
• Perform or support DRC, LVS, ERC, antenna checks, and other layout verification steps; fix violations together with device and process engineers.
• Work closely with device engineers, process engineers, and process integration engineers to ensure layout manufacturability and process compatibility.
• Prepare mask sets, tape-out documents, and layout review records.
• Maintain layout libraries, PCells, and version control.
• Support tape-out, fab, and characterization activities as needed.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the team leader.

REQUIREMNETS

• Technical secondary school, higher diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• 1 to 3 years of layout experience.

• Familiarity with layout tools, such as Cadence Virtuoso, L-Edit, or KLayout.

• Knowledge of PDK, PCell, Skill, Python, or layout automation.

• Understanding of DRC/LVS/ERC and layout verification flows.

• Hands-on experience with tape-out or mask-set generation.

• Detail-oriented, patient, and well-organized.

• Good teamwork and communication skills.

• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese; basic English reading and writing is a plus.

  • Experience in power device, analog, or mixed-signal layout.
  • Experience in a fabless environment.
  • A portfolio or examples of layout work, if available.
  • A straightforward, direct, and efficient working style.

Note: The actual rank and position offered will be commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience*.*

The initial employment contract spans 12 months and can be renewed with a longer tenure upon mutual agreement of the incumbent and MRDI. The incumbent will normally work five days a week. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A gratuity of 15% of the salary will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the contract.
