Engineer Fire Protection

We are looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to join our project team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical coordination, installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of fire protection systems throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the installation of fire protection systems for the hotel project.
• Review and coordinate fire protection drawings, shop drawings, technical submissions and material specifications.
• Ensure fire protection works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications and relevant standards.
• Coordinate fire protection works with M&E, architectural, structural and other project disciplines.
• Liaise with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders on technical matters.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the quality and progress of fire protection works.
• Assist in identifying and resolving technical issues and site coordination matters.
• Monitor the installation, testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
• Ensure all required inspection, testing and commissioning records are properly maintained.
• Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings, testing & commissioning documents and other project documentation.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities and parties where required, including BOMBA-related requirements.
• Ensure all fire protection works comply with applicable safety, quality and statutory requirements.
• Monitor project progress and ensure works are completed according to the project schedule.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superior.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree/Master in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in fire protection, M&E construction or building construction projects.

• Candidates with experience in hotel, commercial building, high-rise building or residential projects will be an added advantage.

• Good knowledge of fire protection systems, including:

  • Fire sprinkler system
  • Fire hydrant and hose reel system
  • Fire alarm system
  • Fire pump system
  • Wet and dry riser system
  • Fire suppression system

• Familiarity with relevant BOMBA requirements, NFPA and applicable Malaysian standards.

• Proficient in AutoCAD and able to read and interpret technical drawings.

• Good understanding of M&E coordination and construction site activities.

• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.

• Able to work independently and as part of a project team.

• Willing to work at project site and travel when required.
