Role & responsibilities

2. Position Summary

Designs chassis fuel system components (fuel tanks, fuel piping layouts and mounting systems) for diesel, gasoline, CNG, LNG and hydrogen commercial vehicles, from concept to PLM release.

3. Must Have Skills

• Chassis fuel system design fuel tank, piping layout and mounting
• CATIA – solid, surface, sheet metal and assembly modules
• Vehicle integration, DMU, packaging and interference analysis
• GD&T and tolerance stack-up
• DFMEA and DVP

4. Good To Have Skills

• Alternate fuel systems – CNG, LNG, hydrogen – safety and handling documentation
• FEA inputs and design iteration from structural analysis reports
• IATF 16949
• 8D problem solving and field-failure root cause analysis
• Competitor benchmarking

5. Roles and Responsibilities

• Own concept design, evaluation and finalisation of chassis fuel system components (fuel tank, fuel piping layout and mounting system) for all fuels: diesel, gasoline, CNG, LNG and hydrogen.
• Carry out fuel system packaging and layout studies.
• Prepare safety and handling documentation for alternate-fuel vehicles.
• Provide inputs for FEA structural analysis and iterate the design to clear it.
• Meet the Quality, Cost and Delivery targets of each project.
• Document project deliverables: design proposals, DFMEA, design calculations and DVP.
• Work with cross-functional teams to meet DFM, DFA and DFS requirements.
• Generate proposals to overcome design challenges and evaluate them on cost and complexity.
• Own CAD quality at part and assembly level.
• Release Bill of Material and specifications in PLM.
• Prepare reports and presentations for engineering reviews.
• Solve technical issues through the 8D approach and QC tools, including root cause analysis of field failures.
• Identify critical-to-quality parameters and apply control parameters on drawings.
• Benchmark competitor designs and submit reports.
