The PTC Lab Technician is mainly responsible for the calibration and preventive maintenance of various equipment in the PTC Lab, including Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and temperature-forcing systems. Additionally, the technician will oversee the condition of compressors and manage the preventive maintenance schedule. This role requires interaction with personnel from Business Units, Administration/Operations, and Suppliers/Vendors to ensure that the PTC Lab is adequately equipped to meet the needs of our Business Unit customers.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair of the following equipment in the PTC Lab:
  • a. Automated Test Equipment (ATE): Teradyne J750 (STD/HD), ETS300/88, DiamondX/D10, Maverick, Magnum, SPEA DOT800
  • b. Temperature Forcing Systems: Thermojet
  • Monitor compressor condition and coordinate scheduled maintenance and specialist service.
  • Provide first-line assessment of tester-host, peripheral, software-interface, connectivity, and access issues; collect symptoms, error details, affected assets, and business impact.
  • Engage and coordinate with the correct IS, Network, Cybersecurity, infrastructure, equipment-owner, global support, or vendor group; track issues through verified restoration
  • Support approved tester-library, operator-interface, software-version, recovery-media, backup, and configuration checks under the standards of the organization responsible
  • Handle the shipment of tools and boards including the preparation of shipping documents and packing of items.
  • Maintain hardware, tooling, spare-parts, and peripheral inventories; support shipments, documentation, and laboratory 5S.
  • Follow laboratory safety, ESD, equipment-control, access, cybersecurity, and change-management requirements
  • Foster a positive workplace environment by exemplifying Microchip’s Guiding Values.

Qualifications/Requirements:

What you bring

  • Associate degree, vocational qualification, or technology-related education in Electronics, Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • At least five years of hands-on experience with ATE, electronics equipment, engineering laboratory equipment, industrial test systems, or a related environment.
  • Working knowledge of calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair practices, and technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of Windows and Linux computers, hardware and peripherals, software installation concepts, accounts and permissions, IP addressing, and network connectivity.
  • Ability to follow controlled procedures accurately and communicate effectively with engineers, managers, IS teams, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Ability to work onsite in an ESD-controlled semiconductor engineering laboratory.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with J750, ETS300/88, DiamondX/D10, Maverick, Magnum, SPEA DOT800, or Thermojet systems.
  • Exposure to semiconductor test, validation, characterization, manufacturing, or engineering-lab operations.
  • Experience coordinating with IT/IS, Network Engineering, equipment vendors, calibration providers, or field-service teams.
  • Basic programming or scripting exposure, such as C, C++, PowerShell, or Python.

Role boundaries

This is primarily an equipment-sustainment position with first-line lab-systems coordination responsibilities. Enterprise network architecture, firewall policy, identity, cybersecurity, servers, and other privileged infrastructure changes remain with authorized Microchip organizations.

What success looks like

Equipment is calibrated and maintained on schedule; records remain accurate; issues are assessed and routed quickly; repairs and system changes are validated before return to service; and laboratory support knowledge is documented and shared.

Other Requirements:
