Position Summary

We are seeking a full-time Engineer-in-Training to join our team in Port Perry. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with an engineering or related technical background who is looking to develop their career in mechanical design, manufacturing, product documentation, and local exhaust ventilation systems.

The Engineer-in-Training is responsible for providing 3D models and drawings for customer orders and internal projects, creating and maintaining specification drawings, brochures, manuals, and product documentation, and helping manage the flow of customer orders through the system. This includes supporting BOMs, part numbers, inventory verification, ETAs, SOP documentation, database maintenance, and SolidWorks model cleanup.

The role also includes working closely with sales, production, purchasing, and engineering team members to support smooth order execution. The Design Engineer-in-Training may also assist with customer-facing activities, including technical support, quote preparation, product selection, and selling standardized products when engineering input is required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to successfully complete customer orders and internal projects.
  • Maintain and update BOMs, part numbers, drawings, and product data in internal databases and on Lev-co.com.
  • Verify product details, inventory levels, drawings, and BOM accuracy to ensure order completeness.
  • Track order progress and confirm that required documentation, parts, equipment, and ETAs are accurate and complete.
  • Coordinate with production and purchasing to support smooth order execution.
  • Create, document, and update SOPs and checklists for recurring tasks.
  • Perform SolidWorks model cleanup and maintain organized file libraries.
  • Conduct routine database maintenance to ensure accurate and consistent product data.
  • Perform basic FEA analysis on products using SolidWorks Simulation tools when required.
  • Create owner’s manuals, brochures, mounting instructions, and other technical documentation.
  • Organize and participate in meetings with team members to review project status, priorities, and design changes.
  • Assist with training new employees on drawing procedures, software use, and documentation practices.
  • Understand and apply the fundamentals of local exhaust ventilation systems.
  • Assist and verify the accuracy and completeness of team members’ design and documentation work.
  • Maintain organized priorities using job schedules, timelines, and internal work order tools.
  • Identify and propose improvements to design, documentation, database, and production workflows.
  • Engage directly with customers to provide drawing support, answer technical questions, and offer product recommendations.
  • Support the sales process by providing technical input for quotes and assisting with product selection.
  • Participate in selling activities for standard or pre-engineered products when appropriate, especially when engineering support helps close a sale.
  • Perform other engineering and project support duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical program.
  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent technical education in an engineering-related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and interest in product design, manufacturing, and system design.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active tasks.
  • Good communication skills and ability to support both internal team members and customers.
  • Interest in exhaust systems, ventilation, air quality, and mechanical equipment.
  • Hands-on experience in a shop, manufacturing, installation, or mechanical environment is an asset.
  • Eligibility or interest in pursuing Engineer-in-Training status is an asset.
  • G driver's license is considered an asset.

What We Offer
