Job Purpose

The Maintenance Reliability Engineer is responsible for defining and optimizing maintenance strategies for production equipment. This role determines which machines should run‑to‑breakdown and which require Preventive Maintenance (PM), TPM, or condition‑based maintenance, using risk, cost, and reliability data to maximize uptime and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve equipment maintenance strategies, including Run-to-Failure, Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs.
  • Conduct asset criticality assessments by evaluating reliability, safety, quality, operational impact, and maintenance costs.
  • Perform Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) studies to determine the most effective maintenance approaches for critical assets.
  • Lead Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), and equipment failure trend analysis to drive reliability improvements.
  • Establish, review, and optimize preventive maintenance tasks, frequencies, and job plans to maximize equipment performance and uptime.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate ineffective or non-value-added maintenance activities while maintaining operational reliability.
  • Drive TPM initiatives, including Autonomous Maintenance and Planned Maintenance programs, to enhance equipment ownership and performance.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report key maintenance and reliability metrics, including MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability, and downtime.
  • Leverage CMMS/EAM systems to ensure accurate maintenance data, improve work management processes, and enhance maintenance effectiveness.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Quality, and EHS teams to support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide maintenance and reliability engineering support during new equipment installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.
  • Professional certifications in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Management, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Asset Management are an advantage.
  • Experience with new equipment introduction (NPI), commissioning, and maintenance readiness activities.
  • Exposure to Industry 4.0, condition monitoring technologies, predictive analytics, or digital maintenance solutions is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, Asset Management, or Manufacturing Operations.
  • Proven hands-on experience in a high-volume manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Experience supporting equipment reliability improvement initiatives and maintenance optimization programs.
  • Strong knowledge of reliability engineering and asset management principles.
  • Practical experience in Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Solid understanding of preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance methodologies.
  • Experience developing maintenance strategies, PM programs, and equipment reliability plans.
  • Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platforms (e.g., SAP PM, IBM Maximo, Infor EAM).
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systems troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret maintenance data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Experience analyzing maintenance performance metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), downtime, and asset availability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Production, Engineering, Quality, and Safety functions.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on operational excellence and equipment reliability.
