What they need

An exciting contract opportunity is available for an Engineer specialising in Supplier Development Quality, based 100% onsite in Atlanta, Georgia. The role focuses on driving improvements and corrective actions in the quality of components sourced from external suppliers, particularly within the medical device sector.

The successful candidate will assess potential new suppliers for technical, quality, and manufacturing capabilities, providing technical support during the introduction of new components. Responsibilities include developing acceptance criteria for materials, monitoring supplier performance, and driving corrective actions related to manufacturing yield issues and field failures. You will generate and maintain incoming inspection procedures, train inspectors, and develop or source inspection tools and equipment.

Additional duties involve assisting in the creation of component specifications, generating test protocols, monitoring testing, issuing qualification test reports, and approving components for use in products. You will provide input to Design Engineering on new component technologies, support component selection with quality and reliability analysis, and analyse incoming material defects, communicating issues to suppliers and driving corrective actions. The role also includes reviewing new design specifications from a quality and manufacturability perspective and investigating field failures related to supplier materials.

This position requires compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures within a quality system environment. The ideal candidate holds a BS degree in engineering (Mechanical preferred, but any engineering discipline considered), with 3-6 years of relevant experience, including at least one year as a supplier quality engineer. Medical device experience is strongly preferred. The role may involve leading project teams of moderate scope and providing guidance to less experienced staff. Candidates must be able to relocate at their own expense if not local, with preference given to those able to relocate quickly.
