Engineer / Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineer / Technician to join GDT Surface Technology Sdn Bhd in a full-time position based in Seberang Jaya, Penang. This role is fundamental to our operations, where you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of our surface technology solutions. As an Engineer / Technician, you will play a key part in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our mechanical engineering projects, working closely with our technical teams to deliver excellence in every aspect of our work.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems in accordance with engineering specifications and industry standards

• Perform technical testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance

• Conduct quality assurance inspections and implement corrective actions to meet company standards

• Support the installation, commissioning, and calibration of equipment at client sites

• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges

• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all work activities

• Provide technical support and training to operational staff where required

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline

• 2-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, maintenance, or a related technical role.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes

• Experience with surface treatment technologies or related industrial processes is highly advantageous

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents

• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies

• Possess a valid driving license and be willing to travel domestically or overseas.

• We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
