Position Overview –

AJM Packaging Corporation, one of America's leading manufacturers of paper products, including paper plates, cups, bowls, and bags, is looking to add an Engineering Intern to our Team in Southgate, MI. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in reliability engineering, maintenance excellence, predictive technologies, and manufacturing process improvement within a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities & Duties –

• In a direct, hands-on capacity, learn and support the maintenance, reliability, and engineering functions within a manufacturing facility.
• Assist with vibration analysis, condition monitoring, and predictive maintenance initiatives on critical production equipment.
• Assist in the development of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for manufacturing assets.
• Work directly with maintenance technicians, engineers, and production teams to troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment issues.
• Participate in machine inspections, reliability assessments, lubrication studies, and mechanical evaluations of production equipment.
• Support continuous improvement projects focused on reducing downtime, improving equipment performance, and extending asset life.
• Assist with documentation, standard operating procedures, engineering drawings, maintenance planning, and reliability reports.
• Gain exposure to CMMS systems, maintenance planning, work order management, and asset management processes.
• Take ownership of special reliability, maintenance, and engineering projects as directed by the Corporate Maintenance Director

Minimum Requirements –

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field from an accredited university.
• Strong interest in industrial manufacturing, maintenance, reliability engineering, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools preferred.
• Experience with CAD software, vibration analysis, predictive maintenance technologies, or reliability concepts is a plus.
