Engineering Associate

Position Summary

The Engineering Associate is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and improvement of mechanical, electrical, and process equipment used in copra milling and coconut oil production.

The position provides technical and operational support to ensure maximum equipment availability, minimize downtime, maintain product quality, and promote compliance with company safety and maintenance standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Operation and Maintenance

· Monitor the operating condition of copra milling and processing equipment, including primary and secondary grinders, expellers, conveyors, elevators, boilers, pumps, motors, compressors, and related auxiliary equipment.

· Assist in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.

· Conduct routine inspections and identify equipment abnormalities, defects, leaks, unusual noise, vibration, overheating, and other potential problems.

· Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues.

· Coordinate with maintenance personnel and contractors during equipment repair and servicing.

· Ensure equipment is properly restored, tested, and safely returned to operation after maintenance.

2. Copra Milling Process Support

· Monitor equipment performance and operating parameters throughout the milling process.

· Assist in maintaining efficient material flow from copra receiving and preparation through milling, oil extraction, and related processing areas.

· Identify process or equipment conditions that may affect milling efficiency, oil yield, product quality, or production capacity.

· Work closely with Production personnel to resolve operational and equipment-related concerns.

· Recommend adjustments or improvements to equipment and operating practices when necessary.

3. Preventive Maintenance and Reliability

· Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules.

· Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, breakdowns, spare parts including its inventory, and equipment performance.

· Analyze recurring equipment failures and assist in identifying root causes.

· Recommend corrective and preventive actions to reduce equipment downtime.

· Monitor critical spare parts and coordinate with the Procurement and Engineering regarding replacement and ordering requirements.

· Ensures the optimum operation, safety and maintenance of utilities.

4. Engineering Projects and Improvements

· Assist in the installation, commissioning, modification, and improvement of plant equipment and facilities.

· Participate in projects aimed at improving equipment reliability, energy efficiency, production capacity, safety, and operating costs.

· Prepare basic technical reports, equipment specifications, work scopes, and maintenance documentation.

· Assist in evaluating equipment, materials, and services from suppliers and contractors.

· Implement Total Productive maintenance

· Reduce maintenance cost but deliver optimum maintenance

5. Safety and Compliance

· Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements.

· Ensure the correct staffing of engineering personnel.

· Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and permit-to-work requirements.

· Immediately report unsafe equipment conditions, hazards, incidents, and near misses.

· Promote good housekeeping and 5S practices within the engineering and production areas.

· Support compliance with applicable Philippine occupational safety and environmental regulations and company standards.

6. Documentation and Reporting

· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly engineering and maintenance reports as required.

· Maintain equipment history, inspection records, maintenance logs, and other engineering documents.

· Track equipment downtime and assist in analyzing maintenance and production data.

· Provide timely updates to the Engineering Head regarding equipment status, breakdowns, and outstanding maintenance activities.

· Prepare daily, weekly and monthly spare parts usage, inventories and status.

· Monitor the usage, availabilities of parts and consumables in the Engineering store

· Assist in the preparation of engineering capex

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field.

· Preferably with relevant experience in manufacturing, food processing, coconut processing, oil milling, or similar industrial facilities.

· Fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge and willingness to work in a plant environment may also be considered.

· Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, industrial machinery, and maintenance practices.

· Basic understanding of pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, boilers, compressors, and process equipment is an advantage.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

· Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documents.

· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· Licensed Professional Engineer in the Philippines is an advantage, depending on the discipline and position requirements.

· Experience with preventive maintenance systems or CMMS.

· Knowledge of basic reliability and root-cause analysis techniques.

· Familiarity with industrial safety practices and Philippine occupational safety requirements.

· Experience in a continuous-process manufacturing environment is highly desirable.

Pay: Php20,000.00 - Php25,000.00 per month
