Job Description

Launch your engineering career with Lear and the University of Warwick.

This exciting Degree Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain a fully funded BEng in Applied Professional Engineering via the Product Design and Development Engineer route while earning a salary and building valuable industry experience with one of the world's leading automotive suppliers.

Working within Lear's Seating Development team, you'll help design, develop and validate innovative seating systems used by some of the world's largest automotive manufacturers. From supporting product development projects to solving real engineering challenges, you'll gain hands-on experience while learning from experienced engineers, technical specialists and mentors.

Starting in September 2027, this four-year Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship (plus End Point Assessment) combines academic study at the University of Warwick with practical workplace experience at Lear. Throughout the programme you'll develop the technical knowledge, professional skills and industry experience needed to begin your career as a Project Engineer.

As your confidence and capability grow, you'll contribute to engineering projects, support the creation of technical specifications, participate in product testing and validation activities, and apply structured problem-solving techniques to support the delivery of world-class automotive seating systems.

By the end of the programme, you'll have developed the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required to succeed in a design and engineering environment while contributing to the development of innovative, high-quality products used across the global automotive industry.

You will:

  • Participate in rotational placements across engineering and technical functions to gain a broad understanding of Lear's business and product development processes.

  • Attend workplace training, university study sessions and apprenticeship development activities.
  • Apply academic learning to real business challenges and engineering projects.
  • Take ownership of your personal and professional development throughout the apprenticeship.
  • Work effectively with colleagues, mentors and cross-functional teams.
  • Balance workplace responsibilities with university study and assessment requirements.
  • Demonstrate high levels of professionalism, attendance, punctuality and engagement throughout the programme.
