Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

The position will involve a broad range of residential and land development geotechnical work across Mangawhai, Kaipara and the wider Northland region. You will step into an established client base, build strong local relationships and have the opportunity to grow the Mangawhai geotechnical portfolio as your own, while still having the backing of a wider, experienced engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Planning and undertaking geotechnical site investigations
• Logging soils and interpreting ground conditions
• Preparing geotechnical investigation reports and recommendations
• Slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity and foundation assessments
• Construction monitoring and site inspections
• Liaising directly with clients, architects, builders, contractors and Councils
• Managing projects from initial enquiry through to completion
• Developing existing client relationships and building your own local client network
• Working closely with wider geotechnical, civil and structural teams

About you

• A relevant qualification in Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
• New Zealand consulting experience, preferably within residential or land development projects
• Strong report writing and technical communication skills
• Confidence dealing directly with clients
• Good judgement and the ability to manage your own workload
• A practical approach to engineering and problem solving
• A full New Zealand driver's licence
