What they need

At McLaren Racing, we’re not just here to try to take the chequered flag. We’re here to excite our fans, inspire our people and deliver for our partners. And we’re also committed to evolving our sport, our industry, and our technology, too. We have exciting opportunities for intelligent, highly motivated and proactive individuals to join our engineering team, for a period of 2 years starting in September 2027, that will see you contribute to our performance and expose you to how a Formula 1 team works.

Our team is full of incredible people, and we know we can learn as much from you as you can from us. Likewise, you want to learn and grow, and you want to share your knowledge with others. After all, that’s what a high performing team is built upon.

Our two-year Engineering Graduate Programme is designed to develop engineering talent, strengthen our internal knowledge and create the future leaders of McLaren Racing.

Starting in September 2027, you will rotate through different areas of our Engineering team, including Aerodynamics, Design, Racing and Performance. You will gain broad experience of how a Formula 1 team operates while contributing to our performance on and off the track.

Applications will close on Wednesday 7th October. There will be a second round of assessment sent on the 9th October to be completed by the 12th October.

The graduate assessment day will be at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking on Thursday 12th November 2026. If you are selected to attend the assessment day, you will be notified the week prior.

What You'll Do

  • Complete placements across a range of Engineering functions, including Aerodynamics, Design, Racing and Performance.
  • Apply your technical knowledge to meaningful engineering challenges and contribute to team performance.
  • Support race weekends throughout the season as required.
  • Manage your work effectively, communicate progress and report outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Share your knowledge, learn from colleagues and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team.

What You'll Bring

  • A degree in Engineering, Mathematics or a scientific discipline, with a minimum 2:1 classification or equivalent.
  • General computing skills and software knowledge relevant to engineering environments.
  • An interest in developing practical engineering solutions, supported by strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant technical tools, such as CAD software for design-based placements, would be useful.
  • A passion for motorsport; previous motorsport experience is welcome but not essential.

Personal Attributes

  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the confidence to use your initiative and take accountability.
  • A collaborative team player who communicates clearly, supports others and contributes to shared goals.
  • Comfortable presenting information, reporting progress and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Creative and analytical in your approach to solving problems and improving performance.
  • Determined, resilient and committed to learning, innovation and continuous improvement.

Success in racing comes from bringing together talented people with different skills, perspectives and experiences. We're committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone feels supported and empowered to deliver their best work.

Every role has the potential to drive high performance. You'll be part of a team united by a shared ambition to push boundaries and embody our racing mindset. We invest in our people through opportunities to develop and grow, creating an environment where individuals and teams can thrive.

Alongside a range of wellbeing initiatives and development opportunities, we're committed to helping you build a rewarding career and make your mark at McLaren Racing.
