Engineering Maintenance Manager

Overview
Our client is a family-owned New Zealand company, with 20 years of experience in civil and mining operations throughout New Zealand.  This project will employ up to 30 personnel in roles ranging from earth moving and dredge operations to administration, health, safety, and compliance. Based in Central Otago, our client values cultural and people diversity and is committed to maintaining high standards of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Asset Management

• Lead and support engineering and maintenance activities across plant and equipment
• Put smart preventative maintenance systems in place to keep operations running reliably
• Oversee asset performance, upgrades, and long-term planning
• Investigate issues and help implement practical, long-term solutions
• Must be able to work on the tools and lead from the front.

People Leadership

• Lead, support, and develop a capable and motivated engineering team
• Ensure the team is trained, resourced, and set up for success
• Encourage a positive, safety-first culture with a focus on continuous improvement

Safety, Compliance & Risk

• Ensure engineering activities are carried out safely and in line with requirements
• Support risk assessments, SOPs, and safe engineering controls
• Work closely with the Health & Safety team to reduce risk on site

Projects

• Oversee engineering projects from planning through to delivery
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on time

Contractor Management

• Coordinate and oversee contractors and external engineering support
• Ensure contractors are inducted, compliant, and working safely
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners

Qualifications/Experience

• Experience in an Engineering or Maintenance leadership role
• Background in industrial, mining, construction, or heavy-asset environments preferred
• Good understanding of health & safety, compliance, and asset management
• Project experience is an advantage

What's on Offer
Salary = $140 - $160k + Company Ute and accommodation (if required)
Location = Central Otago
Reporting to = General Manager 
Hours = 50 hours per week (mainly between Mon - Fri)
