What they need

About the company Our client is a leading Dutch company in the construction industry, specialising in building services for complex residential projects and operating from several locations across the Netherlands. The company is in a phase of targeted growth and professionalization. Engineering is a critical capability in that journey: design quality, lead times and BIM maturity have a direct impact on project results. As the company grows, so does the demand for engineering capacity. To keep pace with – and accelerate – that growth, it is setting up a new engineering office in Valencia, Spain. The ambition is a team of up to 15 BIM modellers and engineers, with the first 10 up and running by Q2 2027. As Engineering Manager, you will be based in Valencia and responsible for building and leading this office from the ground up. Your mission You will turn the Valencia office into a fully-fledged engineering team that keeps pace with and accelerates the company's growth. You make sure your team delivers technically sound, accurate and buildable designs for Dutch projects – on time, within budget and in line with regulations – while working seamlessly with the project teams in the Netherlands. What you do Lead the engineering team in Valencia Lead, coach, assess and develop BIM-modellers and engineers in Valencia. Allocate capacity across projects in close consultation with the Dutch project teams and monitor progress per project. Review designs for technical accuracy, buildability and compliance with Dutch building regulations and NEN standards. Keep a close eye on planning, hours and quality, and step in when projects go off track. Act as a knowledgeable sparring partner for project managers and engineers in the Netherlands. Build and run the Valencia office Take end responsibility for the Valencia office and its growth to 15 FTE, with 10 FTE operational by Q2 2027. Work closely together with the BIM manager that is located in the Netherlands, to oversee the demand of work of the Dutch clients. Work with HR and local partners to define roles and select and hire BIM modellers and engineers. Organize onboarding and knowledge transfer: the company's way of working, Dutch regulations, product knowledge and BIM standards. Set up the collaboration between Valencia and the Dutch offices: work allocation, handover points, communication rhythm and quality control. Create a strong team culture in Valencia that fits the company, drive engagement and low staff turnover. Serve as the operational point of contact for Spanish external partners (e.g. recruitment, HR/payroll, office facilities), in consultation with Dutch management and HR. Processes, standards and innovation Ensure a consistent BIM workflow and modelling standards in Valencia, aligned with the Dutch organization (Revit families, templates, checklists). Continuously improve engineering processes. Translate new technical developments – such as automation and AI in BIM – into everyday practice. Report regularly on capacity, progress, quality and the development of the Valencia office. What you bring An university degree or equivalent level of thinking, preferably in building services (MEP) or mechanical engineering. At least 5 years' experience in a technical role in the building services or construction industry, including several years in a proven leadership role. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and BIM workflows. Experience coaching and developing technical teams. Excellent written and spoken Spanish and professional level of English is a must. Knowledge of Dutch building regulations and NEN standards is not required: you will be fully trained in these by the employer. You live in the Valencia region and are willing to travel to the Netherlands 1-2 times per year. Who you are Connector: you link the team in Valencia with the project teams in the Netherlands, also remotely. Technical authority: you assess designs on their merits and are respected by engineers as a subjec
