This includes managing civil works, utilities, automation systems, biogas, and wastewater treatment facilities. The role ensures that infrastructure and systems are designed, built, and maintained to achieve operational efficiency, animal welfare, safety, and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project & Construction Management

  • Supervise the design and construction of farm buildings, feedmill facilities, and support infrastructure.
  • Lead planning, budgeting, and execution of engineering projects to ensure quality, timeliness, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage contractors, suppliers, and service providers to meet technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

2. Operations, Maintenance & Automation

  • Establish and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for farm, feedmill, biogas, and wastewater systems.
  • Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of farm automation systems, including climate control systems, automatic feeders, and conveyors.
  • Ensure reliability and efficiency of all mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Implement biosecurity-related engineering controls, ensuring facilities and equipment support strict farm hygiene protocols.

3. Engineering & Technical Oversight

  • Apply civil engineering expertise in site development, building structures, drainage, water supply, and waste management systems.
  • Ensure engineering designs and operations comply with building codes, environmental standards, biosecurity regulations, and occupational safety laws.
  • Provide technical support for feedmill process optimization and farm productivity initiatives.

4. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, train, and mentor engineers and technicians in construction, automation, and maintenance.
  • Promote a culture of technical competence, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with farm, feedmill, and operations teams to align engineering support with production and biosecurity requirements.

5. Budgeting & Resource Allocation

  • Prepare and manage engineering budgets and cost-control measures.
  • Allocate manpower, equipment, and materials efficiently across projects and maintenance programs.
  • Support capital investment planning for future expansions and automation upgrades.

6. Cross-Department Collaboration & Compliance

  • Collaborate with operations, production, and environmental teams to deliver engineering solutions that improve productivity, animal welfare, and sustainability.
  • Work with external consultants, contractors, and government agencies for project permits, compliance, and inspections.
  • Ensure systems and facilities consistently meet biosecurity, safety, and environmental compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Civil Engineer (required). A Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related management/engineering field is an advantage.
  • 7-10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial/supervisory role.
  • Proven experience in agricultural/farm infrastructure, feedmill facilities, wastewater treatment, biogas systems, and farm automation.
  • Strong knowledge of climate control systems, automatic feeding systems, conveyors, and biosecurity engineering controls.
  • Proficiency in engineering design and project management software (e.g., CAD, MS Project, Primavera).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
