ABOUT THE CLIENT

We're supporting an established technology-led organisation that is investing heavily in the future of its engineering function. Following continued growth and a major platform transformation programme, they are looking to appoint an Engineering Manager to lead and develop a high-performing engineering team.

This is an opportunity to join at a pivotal stage, working alongside experienced engineering and product leaders within an environment that values innovation, collaboration and modern software engineering practices.

THE ENGINEERING MANAGER ROLE:

As Engineering Manager, you'll lead and develop a team of Software Engineers, taking ownership of performance, career development and creating a high-performing engineering culture.

You'll work closely with Engineering, Product and senior stakeholders to improve delivery, engineering standards and ways of working. You'll also help drive the team's adoption of AI-assisted development and modern engineering practices.

Although this isn't a hands-on development role, you'll have a strong software engineering background and enough technical depth to contribute effectively to engineering discussions and decision-making.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Proven experience managing and developing Software Engineering teams
• Strong software engineering background
• Experience with 1-2-1s, coaching, performance and career development
• Strong understanding of agile software delivery and engineering best practice
• Experience working with Product, Engineering and senior stakeholders
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
