Engineering Manager

Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum

BM Foods is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to take full responsibility for engineering activities, standards and performance across our Avonmouth site.

Reporting to the Site Director, you will lead the engineering function, support factory performance and ensure equipment, facilities and services are maintained to the highest standards. You will work closely with teams across the business, providing technical expertise and driving a proactive culture focused on safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote health and safety best practice across the site.
• Manage factory breakdowns and provide effective, timely solutions.
• Develop and deliver the planned preventative maintenance schedule.
• Maximise the availability and performance of site equipment.
• Lead machinery installations and capital expenditure projects.
• Manage contractors, permits to work and engineering documentation.
• Ensure engineering records and paperwork remain accurate and BRC compliant.
• Control engineering expenditure, spare parts and stock.
• Maintain site facilities, services, engineering stores and workshops.
• Develop, train and manage the engineering team.
• Provide technical support and advice to production teams.
• Report on engineering performance to senior site leadership.

About you

You will be a qualified multi-skilled engineer with an electrical bias and at least three years’ experience within a food production environment. You will ideally hold a degree or HND alongside Food Safety Level 3 and IOSH qualifications. Experience with automation, PLC systems and BRC standards is also required.

You will be a confident and proactive leader with strong problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain effective under pressure. You will also be committed to developing your team and continually improving engineering and factory performance.
